ECU Remapping This is where the terms chip tune, chipping, chiptuning, remapping, chipped, remap all come from. The ecu or vehicles brain contains data more commonly known as maps. These ECU maps control every aspect of the vehicles performance. Huddersfield Chip Tune download the information from the ecu, where we can make changes to the specific parts of the map that will allow more torque, more bhp power, sharper throttle response, instant acceleration and reduction in turbo lag just to name a few. These are the most common modifications that are made to the ecu when we remap it. The most common failure for ECU remapping is the tools used to read and write the ecu. Huddersfield Chip Tune only use genuine remapping tools that are industry leading. We only use CMD FLASH, ALIENTECH KESS, AMT CARTECH MPPS, BYTESHOOTER. We also have access to many other remapping tools through our bank of contacts, so if you have an ecu that is rare, please contact us as we may be able to remap you.

The process is easy and simple, Huddersfield Chip Tune connect the remapping equipment to the vehicles OBD (on board diagnostic port). All vehicles have this port. We then down load the ecu information to a PC. This is then saved, and tuned to your specification of power remap, economy remap, 50/50 power and economy remap, dpf removal remap. Some vehicles after 2010 require the ECU to be removed and tuned on the bench as they have protection enabled sometimes known as Tri-Core. This requires more time and specialist hardware and software. If this is the case we will let you before any remapping is commenced. Once the downloaded file has been tuned, it is the written back to the vehicle through the OBD port. Typical time for an OBD port remap is 1.5 hours, With the Tri-Core Ecu removed is up to 3.5 hours

All vehicles have a full diagnostics performed before the remap and after. This is done to ensure no faults exist with the engine prior and post. Faults shown with injectors, air flow meter and throttle to name a few will affect the remap prior to the remap. We must ensure the vehicle is free from faults before any work is carried out. All Huddersfield Chip Tune ask is that the vehicle has been looked after, serviced and maintained, this will ensure the best results after the remap.

Huddersfield Chip Tune gives you the choice of the level of ECU remap you want. Be it Performance Engine ECU Remapping or Economy ECO Remapping, we have the ability to reach your exact requirements. We only use industry leading Engine ECU Remapping software and hardware.

Before we do anything we make a Full Copy of your Original Engines ECU’s Remap. If you want the Engines ECU putting back to factory at any time, this can be done. We also give you the Original Engine ECU Map file along with the tuned Engines ECU Remap file for future reference.

Yes, most vehicles are ECU Remapped over the OBD (on board diagnostics port) port of the car. Unless it is a Tri-Core ECU that is protected, for this we must take the ECU out of the Vehicle and have it remapped this way.

No. The Engine ECU Remapping software is not visible, but the tuning will be noticed when the car is tested on a dyno only. Nothing changes, only the Power, Performance or fuel economy.

With our ECU Remapping you don’t need to change anything. The only recommendation we give is to install a high flow air filter (Pipercross, K&N) that would allow the Engines ECU Remap to maximise its full power or economy gains.

Huddersfield Chip Tune Engine ECU Remaps can be used for all transmission types, from automatic, to semi auto, to CVT Triptronic, paddle shift and manual.

As a rule the above mainly applies to Turbo Diesel ECU Engines and we guarantee you will save fuel on Turbo Diesel Vehicles, Light Commercials and HGV’s.
